Until 2023, Iron Mike’s was operated for 19 years by Paul and Marlene Vella and family. The eatery and tavern were named after Marlene’s father, Mike Moran an ironworker whose nickname was “Iron Mike.” It quickly became the area’s favorite place for fun, friends and reliably great food.

John and Marcy Lyp first experienced Iron Mike’s 19 years ago, when they moved to New Boston. From that first dinner, they were impressed with the warm welcome, the family atmosphere and the genuinely friendly, courteous service.
When the Vellas retired, John wondered who would buy the place. Turns out, John and Marcy Lyp bought it. They talked it over with their family: running a restaurant/tavern appealed to their adventurous spirits. And they have kept it a family business, expanding that family to include every customer who comes through the door.
